Van Buren, NY – A father and son from Van Buren face charges of possessing child pornography following a seven-month investigation, state police said.

Leon Yingst, 56, and Christopher Yingst, 21, both of 105 Blanchard Blvd., Van Buren, each was charged Wednesday with one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony, state police said. They were arraigned in Van Buren town court and ordered held at the Justice Center Jail on $150,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond, troopers said.

“They were found to have images of children involved in sex acts on computers found in their residence,” state police Investigator Paul Olson said. The images were downloaded from the Internet, Olson said. He declined to say how many pictures were found or on how many computers.

The computers were seized as part of the investigation, he said.

The Yingsts were the first people arrested in the probe, which had been initiated by the state police computer crimes unit, Olson said. He declined to say whether others are expected to be charged, but said the investigation continues and more charges are expected to result.
