Salina, NY -- Little more than a day after a fatal crash less than a mile away, two vehicles collided head on on Onondaga Lake Parkway Tuesday night.

Two SUVs collided when one crossed over the center of the roadway, south of the CSX railroad bridge. The two SUVS, one a Mercedes the other a Hyundai, suffered extensive front-end damage.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to area hospitals by Rural Metro Ambulance. The drivers were alert and talking as they were taken away and neither appeared to suffer life-threatening injuries.

Monday afternoon a North Syracuse woman died in a head-on collision that Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said may have been the result of other drivers acting out of road rage.

"We were lucky on this one," Liverpool Fire Chief Gary Vincitore said at Tuesday night's crash scene.
