Aurelius, NY – An Auburn man was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicted under Leandra’s Law after an accident Thursday on River Road, Aurelius, state police said.
Troopers said James J. Thomas, 24., of M73 Oak Creek Townhomes, Auburn, failed initial intoxication tests. He had children in the car, troopers said, elevating DWI to a felony under Leandra’s Law. He also was charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17, a misdemeanor, troopers said.
Thomas was arraigned in Aurelius town court and ordered held in Cayuga County Jail on bail of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond pending a court appearance Wednesday in Aurelius, troopers said.
