2004 graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School was accused of killing a masseuse and robbing another woman.
Philip Markoff, the Central New York native who is accused of killing a masseuse he met through Craigslist in Boston, has killed himself in jail, the Boston Herald is reporting.
Details are not yet available on the circumstances of Markoff's death. He was pronounced dead at 10:17 a.m. today, according to news reports. Markoff had been placed on suicide watch shortly after his arrest, the Boston Globe reported.
Markoff, who grew up in Sherrill, Oneida County, graduated from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in 2004. When he was arrested and charged with shooting masseuse Julissa Brisman at a Boston hotel and robbing another woman, his former teacher at the school remembered him as a friendly, polite and promising student.
