Fulton, NY -- Friday the 13th was unlucky for a would-be drive-through bank robber, Fulton police said.

Police said Martin J. Richardson, 54, of Volney, went to the Empower Federal Credit Union on South Second Street around 11:15 a.m. with a bandana over his face. Richardson, police said, “told a bank teller that he was going to rob them in the next five minutes.”

He then left the area. Police were called.

According to a credit-union spokesperson, the robbery threat was made at the drive-through window.

Police found Richardson about a half hour later on a bicycle near the intersection of West Third Street and Oak Street. Richardson, police said, refused orders to stop. “Officers converged on the area,” police said, and Richardson was taken into custody.

Richardson was charged with attempted robbery in the third degree and resisting arrest. He is being held in Fulton lock up awaiting arraignment in Fulton City court.
