Syracuse, NY -- The investigation into a fiery crash that killed two people Wednesday on Route 5 in Elbridge is continuing today, Sgt. John D'Eredita said.
Kevin Lamay II, 26, of Rome, was driving a Casa Imports tractor-trailer truck when it ran into the back of a stopped car, causing that car to burst into flames, deputies said. Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said Wednesday there was no tire marks on the road indicating Lamay applied the brakes before the crash.
When the crash investigation is complete, a decision will be made on whether Lamay will face charges in the crash, D'Eredita said.
The second victim of the crash has not been officially identified, but identification is expected to take place today, D'Eredita said.
The driver of the car that was struck by the truck was identified as Ronald Mabb, 68, of Elbridge.
