Oswego, NY -- Thirty-nine emergency services workers with the Oswego Fire Department’s ambulance squad have been issued warning letters concerning conduct dealing with transportation and filing reports, a state Health Department spokesman said.
Jeffrey Hammond, speaking for the health department, said the department’s investigation “substantiated failure to follow pre-hospital patient care protocols and improper transportation issues.”
The warning letters will remain in the ambulance corps members’ personnel files.
Fire Department Chief Jeff McCrobie said the warning letters do not have anything to do with transportation or failure of ambulance personnel to transport patients. He said it deals with the Pre-Hospital Care Reports paperwork the ambulance squad members must fill out.
“We have looked at everything we did and have rectified most of the circumstances,” McCrobie said.
Hammond said the department’s investigation of the Oswego ambulance service operation as a whole continues.
The health department began an investigation in January. Hammond said at that time it had received four complaints stemming from one incident concerning failure to transport people to the hospital when called.
