Oil rig supply boats, wedding planners and oyster farmers are among the people who have filed 39,000 oil spill claims that BP has been holding onto for months. Without the money, those small-business owners are in danger of going under. State officials say BP wants to wait until the U.S. government take over the claims process, so federal officials can be the "bad guys" to deny claims.

In other words, BP wants to pass the buck to the Feds instead of cleaning up the mess THEY created with their Negligence. I do think that they should NOT be paying for any claims that do not have a direct cause and effect from the Oil Spill. BUT they also need to hurry up the payments to the Fishermen.They have been dragging their feet and giving very small amounts to the people that had their income destroyed by BP.
