Volney, NY -- A Fulton man faces several charges after he drove his 2005 Ford pickup truck off county Route 176 Saturday afternoon, hitting a mailbox and two utility poles, according to Oswego County Sheriff's deputies.
Mitchell J. McQuaid, 20, of 299 Russell Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to keep right. Deputies said McQuaid was trying to pass a vehicle on Route 176 about a mile south of Rowlee Road when he lost control of the truck and eventually landed in a group of trees. Rescue workers extricated McQuaid from the truck and he was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The crash is still under investigation, deputies said. McQuaid was ticketed and is scheduled to appear Oct. 4 in Town of Volney Court.
