Syracuse, NY - Syracuse police say two Mattydale teenagers assaulted a city man with a bottle and metal grate from a grill Saturday night on Lancaster Avenue.

Alexander Arkerson, 16, and Jeanluc Rogers, 19, were both charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Rogers also was charged with imitation of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Police were called to 909 Lancaster Ave. shortly after the assault, at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Gary Bulinski said.

A witness told police two males had assaulted his brother.

Police found Arkerson and Rogers a short time later at Lancaster and Euclid avenues. The victim, 22-year-old Vincent Berry, then identified them as the two males who assaulted him, Bulinski said.

Berry suffered injuries after he was struck in the head with the bottle and metal grate from a grill, Bulinski said. No other details about Berry's injuries or the assault were immediately available.

Arkerson and Rogers were sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center jail, Bulinski said. Jail records show Rogers remains in jail on $2,500 bail.
