Union Springs, NY--The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department has accused two people of taking cases of cigarettes Tuesday from Lakeside Trading in the Village of Union Springs.
Keith C. Ferrin, 52, of 27 Willowcrest Dr., Port Byron, and Samantha M. (Jetty) Swann, 35, of 10615 Peachblow Road, Cato, were accused of grand larceny.
Ferrin, who was arrested Tuesday at his home, was arraigned in the Town of Springport Court and sent to the Cayuga County Jail without bail. A week ago, Ferrin was a passenger in a pick up truck that blew through a stop sign and smashed into a Camillus couple's home throwing them across their bedroom, said Cayuga County Lieutenant Joseph Weeks.
Deputies arrested Swann Wednesday at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building. She was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court and released on her own recognizance.
Deputies said a video shows the two taking two cases of cigarettes out of the rear of the store owned by the Cayuga Nation. An investigation showed that six cases of cigarettes are missing, deputies said.
A case of cigarettes estimated to be worth $1,900 has been recovered.
