VALHALLA, N.Y. — The parents of two young sisters who were stabbed in their home across the street from Martha Stewart’s estate say they are in good condition.
The girls, 7-year-old Maeve Kelly and 9-year-old Annabel Kelly, of Katonah, were repeatedly slashed Saturday night while their parents were at a nearby concert. Their 39-year-old aunt and baby sitter, Lisa Turkki of the town of Manlius, has been charged with assault.
Joseph and Eva Kelly issued a statement Tuesday through Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where the girls are being treated. They thanked the community and said the girls’ prognosis is positive.
Also Tuesday, the Syracuse-based organization where Turkki helped with disabled people from 2001-2004 said she was a “good volunteer” whose tenure was unremarkable.
