Rome, NY--The Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies this morning continued their search for Brian J. Brown, 31, who is accused of robbing a Rome bank Wednesday and shooting the deputy who tried to take him into custody.
At a news conference Thursday, state police said the FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for Brown's capture and conviction.
Thursday night the Oneida Daily Dispatch said police identified a second robbery suspect they have in custody as Ikiko Brown, 24, of Utica.
The robbery occurred at about 9:30 Thursday morning when a suspect entered the NBT bank on Black River Boulevard in Rome, robbed it and fled in a car. Click here to read an earlier story.
Oneida County Deputy Michael Burger stopped the car and was shot in the leg during a shoot out with the suspect. The susepct fled into the woods near the SUNY IT campus on Mulaney Road.
Classes were not in session at the campus, which was evacuated Thursday. The campus remains closed today to the public and employees. Only university police and dispatchers are to report to work.
