'It's sad, but the church was no longer needed.'

2006-12-22-db-Churchinterior.JPGSt. Louis Catholic Church in Oswego, shown in this photo from Dec. 22, 2006, has been closed since 2000. The building collapsed Sunday, bringing an early end to nearby Harborfest activities.

The 168-year-old St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Oswego collapsed last weekend, forcing a street closure and an early end to Harborfest. The church, which was later demolished, had been vacant since 2000. Here's what bvillager196 had to say about it:

"It's sad, but the church was no longer needed. We don't have to keep every structure just because it's old. It looked pretty simple in design from the photograph."
