Cortlandville, NY -- A Tully man was charged with driving a while intoxicated after the four-wheeler he was driving was stopped by Cortland County sheriff's deputies after a brief chase Sunday morning.
Richard B. Warner, 21, of 8 Marybelle Road, was charged with misdemeanor counts of DWI, driving with a blood-alcohol count of .08 or higher and third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He also was charged with nine Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
According to authorities, Sheriff's deputies tried to stop the four-wheeler for operating with no headlights on state Route 13 in Cortlandville shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. But officials said the motorist refused to stop and drove off on Route 13 into Tompkins County where he eventually was apprehended.
Warner was jailed Sunday with bail set at $7,500 cash or $10,000 bond. Sheriff's officials said additional charges are possible.
