Syracuse, NY – Someone broke into a downtown florist shop early this morning by driving a van through its front wall, city police said.
According to witnesses and video surveillance, a person driving a black van smashed into the front of Markowitz Florist, 210 S. Warren St., about 3:22 a.m., Sgt. Tom Connellan said. A suspect entered through a hole in the wall, then fled in the van, he said.
Police declined to release the video.
“We’re developing suspect information on the van at this point,” Connellan said. Investigators also are trying to determine what was taken, he said.
The incident at University Building florist is the latest in a series of burglaries in the South Warren Street area. Police are investigating whether the break-ins are related, Connellan said.
