Syracuse, NY – The son of Syracuse’s police chief was cut on the arm while attempting to break up a fight outside a community center at Kirk Park Thursday afternoon, police report.
Frank Fowler Jr., 19, is a staffer at the Seals Community Center.
Here’s how it happened, police said: Around 3 p.m. a fight between two people occurred outside the center. Children from the center went out to watch and Fowler went outside to keep them separated from the fight.
Fowler tried to break up the fight and was cut on the arm by one of the fighters, perhaps with a razor blade.
Fowler was taken to the hospital where the cuts were stitched up. He was treated and released.
“The chief’s son tried to do the right thing and he got hurt,” said Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan.
The two fighters, whom Fowler did not know, ran from the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
