Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse police are asking residents to be aware of thieves going door-to-door pretending to do free outdoor work.
Two times in the past week the thieves approached elderly North Side residents, promising to do free work with leftover materials. To do the work, they say they need buckets of water.
One thief isolates the victim while the other steals items from inside the house, said Sgt. Gary Bulinski.
Residents should not allow strangers into their homes, and to report suspicious activity to 911, Bulinski said.
If anyone can provide descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle, they can call 911. Anyone with information about the crimes can contact Syracuse police at 442-5222.
