Syracuse, NY -- Two Syracuse brothers were arrested early Sunday after a domestic dispute escalated into a robbery with a baseball bat, city police said.
Elias D. Franco, 26, of 145 Orlando Ave., and Miguel A. Quintero, 20, of 1100 Carbon St., Apt. 3, were each charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. Franco also faces charges of menacing, criminal mischief and harassment, police said.
Crystal Wright, 21, of Syracuse, was dropping off a friend at 3:50 a.m. on Central Avenue when her former boyfriend, Franco, confronted her, said Sgt. Tom Connellan. Wright got in her car and drove to the 700 block of Otisco St. to get help from a friend.
Franco and his brother, Quintero, pulled up behind Wright. Franco punched her, then hit her trunk with a baseball bat, Connellan said.
The brothers then drove a green Buick up on the sidewalk and confronted the friend with the baseball bat, taking his BlackBerry cell phone, Connellan said.
Within seconds, Sgt. James Sewall spotted the Buick at the Fastrac on Erie Boulevard West, where Franco and Quintero were arrested and a baseball bat recovered, Connellan said.
The investigation is continuing, and police have not released photos of the suspects.
