First three bills totaling $122.3 million have been paid.
A $99.7 million bill has been sent to BP and other responsible parties, making it the fourth bill sent to the company by the Obama administration, according to Deepwater Horizon Incident Joint Information Center.
The government stated that BP is financially responsible for all costs in response to the spill, including clean-up efforts, capping efforts, reducing the spread of oil, protecting the shoreline and long-term recovery efforts for individuals and communities affected by the spill.
The government is billing BP and other parties on a regular basis for any costs incurred by the federal on-scene coordinator. The bills will reimburse the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund which currently holds about $1.5 billion and is used to cover damage costs associated with spills.
The first three bills sent out to BP and others totaled $122.3 million. These bills have already been paid.
