Fort Drum, NY -- Two Fort Drum soldiers died in separate attacks Saturday in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Jesse W. Ainsworth, 24, of Texas, was killed by an improvised explosive device near the city of Walakan, Afghanistan, an Army spokesperson said Monday.
Ainsworth had served two tours in Iraq before being sent to Afghanistan.
He was with the first squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, first Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division.
Ainsworth is survived by his wife, two children, mother and sister.
Sgt. Donald R. Edgerton, 33, of North Carolina, was killed by an improvised explosive device near the city of Charadarre, Afghanistan, the Army said in a release Monday.
Edgerton was a senior sniper with the first squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, first Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and parents.
