Syracuse, NY--The price of a passport has gone up.
Beginning Tuesday, the cost of an adult passport will rise to $135, up from $100, according to Onondaga County Clerk M. Ann Ciarpelli. An adult passcard will go up to $55 from $45.
The fee increases come from the federal government, the local portion of the fee, which is $25, remains the same.
A passport for children under the age of 16 will go to $105 up from $85, and a passcard will go to $40, an increase of $35.
Renewing a passport will cost $110, up from $75.
The once free visa pages will now cost $82.
The last federal increase was February 2008. At that time the local fee decreased from $30 to $25.
