Update:
Town of Manlius, NY -- One person was taken to Crouse Hospital with face and neck injuries from a two-car accident this morning on Route 5 near George Taylor Road, police said.

Two other people involved in the crash were not sent to the hospital, Manlius Police Capt. Jason Cassalia said.

Route 5 will remain closed between its two intersections with George Taylor Road for an undetermined period to let environmental crews clean up gasoline spilled from the wreck, Cassalia said. He asked travelers to use Salt Springs Road or Route 290 instead.

The identities of the victims were not available. Cassalia said the injuries of the hospitalized victim did not appear to be life-threatening.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, he said.

Town of Manlius, NY – Emergency crews are investigating a two-car accident on Route 5 near George Taylor Road east of Fayetteville in which one of the vehicles caught fire, police said.

All occupants were removed from the vehicles and there were no fatalities, but the extent of injuries was not known as of 8:10 a.m., police said. That was an hour after Onondaga County E-911 dispatched Manlius Police and Fayetteville fire and ambulance crews to the scene.

Officials blocked Route 5, also called Genesee Turnpike, at both of its intersections with George Taylor Road, which loops on and off the thoroughfare near Green Lakes State Park. Police warned of a traffic slowdown near the scene and asked motorists to use Salt Springs Road or Route 290/Green Lakes Road instead.
