Syracuse, NY – Two 15-year-old boys are in custody and police are seeking two or three others in connection with the armed robbery Sunday of a food delivery driver in Syracuse’s Skunk City neighborhood, police said.

The victim, whom police are not identifying, was delivering food about 10:45 p.m. at West Onondaga and Hoeffler streets for Sabastino’s when he was jumped and pistol whipped by four or five youths who took his cash and food, Sgt. Tom Connellan said.

Officers Brendan Cope and Donald Patti saw two teens answering descriptions of the assailants running south through back yards toward Bellevue Avenue, Connellan said.

When officers found an open basement window at 1813 Bellevue Ave. they entered the building and found two 15-year-olds in the cellar, one with a BB gun in his waistband and two bloody $1 bills in his possession, the other lying on $53 in mixed currency, he said.

The teens were charged with felony counts of robbery and criminal use of a firearm and lodged at Hillbrook Detention Facility pending Family Court action, Connellan said. They are not being identified because of their ages, he said.

People with information on the others being sought should call the Criminal Investigation Division at 442-5222, Connellan said.
