Preble, NY -- A Homer woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after the car she was driving was struck by a motorcycle Sunday night in Preble, state police said.
According to troopers, Jane M. Ward, 27, of 6528 Glen Haven Road, Homer, was turning left about 9:26 p.m. from Route 281 onto Preble Road when her Chevrolet turned into the path of a southbound motorcycle being driven by Harold J. Bridger, 36, of 2447 E. River Road, Cortland.
The motorcycle hit the passenger side of Ward's car and Bridger and his passenger were thrown from the bike.
Bridger and his rider, Catherine L. Boyce, 38, of 1219 Starr Road, Cortland, were taken to Upstate University Hospital for what troopers described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Ward was unhurt but a breathalyzer test showed her with a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, twice the legal limit, troopers said.
She was charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.08, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, failure to yield the right of way and driving an uninspected motor vehicle, troopers said. She is to appear in Preble town court at 6 p.m. July 13.
