Otisco, NY -- No one was hurt by a fire that destroyed an old farmhouse at 3807 Otisco Road Monday afternoon.
The farm once supported Kuty’s Farm-Market, but the business hadn’t been as active recently, said neighbor Norm Volles.
State police said home owner Richard Kuty Sr. was not home at the time of the fire.
Dozens of firefighters, led by Amber Fire Department, battled the blaze but were hampered by a lack of water at the scene. Pumper trucks were ferrying water from nearby Otisco Lake up a hill to the scene.
Nearly an hour after the fire was called into emergency 911 dispatchers, flames were still spouting from the heavily damaged structure.
State police are investigating the cause of the fire.
